Christmas Eve @ Grace Sacramento

Join us on Christmas Eve, December 24th for a Lessons and Carols service on the parking lot of Grace Sacramento under the tents at 6p. Dress warmly.

The Jesse Tree Advent Devotional

The Jesse Tree is a 24-day practice that you can use to prepare for the celebration of Christ’s birth at Christmas. In this way, it helps us enter more fully into the Church season of Advent which anticipates the coming of Jesus and this season of expectation. The Jesse Tree provides us with a tangible way to countdown and look towards Jesus’ coming through the stories of the Old Testament.

The Jesse Tree

The liturgical season of Advent draws us in, inviting us to pay attention to the story. This season is the lead up to the birth of Jesus but it also points us to the hundreds of stories that came before – stories of shepherds, queens, grace and the faithfulness of God to his people.

We’d like to invite you and your family to walk through the Jesse Tree Advent devotional over the next 24 days. May you find grace in the story in unexpectedly abundant ways this Advent season.

Included in your Christmas bucket are:
1. A Jesse Tree devotional book and
2. A printout of the 24 ornaments for the next 24 days (color or decorate ornaments or make with clay
3. Twine and clips to hang ornaments. You can either hang these on twine or hang them as ornaments on a Christmas tree.

Advent Christmas Wreaths

Since we're not able to be together this Advent season (in the same way we have in previous seasons), we're providing a way for each household to participate in the lighting of the Advent wreath each Sunday over the next four weeks from your own home.

You should have received a Christmas bucket containing: a small grapevine wreath, three purple candles, one pink candle and a white Christ candle. You'll also find small holders at the bottom of each candle.

Wreath Resized

Feel free to decorate the wreath (i.e. pine garland, pine cones, sticks, berries). Each candle should be spaced 2" apart. We will be lighting one candle per week and then the Christ candle on Christmas Eve. You can light the candle as we light ours during the stream of our Sunday morning worship. You can find links to the worship stream on our website at www.wearegracesac.org.

*Warning

Be sure to blow out the candles immediately following the Advent readings. DO NOT allow them to burn more than 5 minutes after lighting. Supervise children around matches and candles.

The Not-so-Secret Santa Swap

This Advent season looks a bit different than we’re used to, so we have created a safe and fun way to pair people / families with others as a way to encourage others and be encouraged ourselves as we walk into this Christmas season.

What does not-so-secret mean?

Relationships are the core of who we are, so rather than keep your Secret Santa a surprise, we want you to get to know someone at Grace during the process.

What does this involve?

Trying not to focus so much on gifts (although you are certainly welcome to do so) you’re encouraged to do simple things for one another once or twice a week (more info on the registration page on the link below).

How do I sign-up?

Simply click on the link here and it will take you to the form to enroll in the Not-so-Secret Santa swap. We are excited to have you join in the fun!
