A Warning and an Encouragement
April 12, 2026 Speaker: Daniel Yoon Series: Short Letters, Big Mission
Passage: Jude 1:1–25
Discussion Questions:
1. Our Identity
Jude describes believers as called, beloved, and kept.
- Which of these do you most easily believe?
- Which is hardest for you to live out, and why?
- How might a weak grasp of our identity in Christ make us more vulnerable to false teaching or spiritual drift?
2. A Warning
- Jude urges believers to “contend for the faith.” What do you think that looks like in a church or culture like ours?
- The sermon emphasized that false teaching often “creeps in unnoticed.” Why is it often subtle rather than obvious?
- Jude connects false teaching with immoral living. Why do belief and behavior always go together?
3. An Encouragement
- Verses 20-21 describe spiritual growth. What does it look like for you to build yourself up in the faith right now? What does it mean to pray in the Holy Spirit in your daily life? How do we actively keep ourselves in the love of God while also trusting that God keeps us?
- Jude calls us to respond differently to different people: Who in your life might fall into the categories of doubting, drifting, or deeply caught in sin? What does wise, compassionate engagement look like in each case?
4. Application
- What is one practical way you can: Grow in your faith this week? Guard against false or shallow beliefs? Show mercy to someone spiritually struggling?
- If Jude were writing directly to our church today, what do you think he would warn us about? What would he encourage us with?
