1. Purposeful Practices

• God gave Israel practices such as Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the consecration of the firstborn. Which practices have most helped you remember who God is and what Christ has done for you?
• What practices are currently shaping your understanding of yourself? What lies are we tempted to believe about God when we forget the story of our redemption?
• Why are Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, corporate worship, and the preaching of the Word more than empty rituals?

2. Widening Witness

• Why is it important not only to model our faith but also to explain what we believe, why it matters, and how God has been faithful? How have you seen this work out in your life?
• What could help you speak more openly and naturally about God’s faithfulness with your children, family members, friends, or neighbors?
• Rosaria Butterfield was affected by ordinary Christian hospitality and the practice of singing Psalms. How might the ordinary practices of your home or church bear witness to someone who does not yet believe?
• What obstacles make it difficult to welcome outsiders into the practices and life of your household or church community?

• How does the Exodus story become our shared story through the death and resurrection of Jesus?
• What difference does it make to know that our redemption depends upon Christ’s completed work rather than the strength of our memory, obedience, or spiritual practices?
