Discussion Questions:

1. Read verses 1-3 slowly. What words or images stop you? What do these opening lines tell you about how Israel sees God in the immediate aftermath of the Red Sea?

2. In verses 4-12, count how many times God is the subject of the verb. Who accomplished this victory? How does the song make that unavoidably clear?

3. The word hesed shows up in verses 13-17. Steadfast love. Covenant faithfulness. Why is that the quality Israel reaches for when they think about the future? What does it tell you about how they understand their relationship with God?

4. Verse 18 declares "The LORD will reign forever and ever." What does it actually mean to live under a King who is both victorious and eternal? What does that change about how you face Monday?

5. The Exodus is a rescue story. But it is not the final rescue story. How does this song point forward to Jesus? In what ways is Christ the fulfillment of what God started at the Red Sea?

6. Israel sings after the rescue. But we often struggle to praise God when life is hard and the rescue hasn't come yet. What helps you remember God's faithfulness when you don't feel like singing?
