Q: What is Stephen Ministry?
A: Stephen Ministry is a ministry in our congregation in which trained and supervised laypeople, called Stephen Ministers, provide one-to-one Christian care to individuals facing life challenges. Typically a Stephen Minister will meet with their care receiver once a week for an hour, providing emotional and spiritual support in a confidential atmosphere of grace-based acceptance.
Q: In what types of situations do Stephen Ministers provide care?
A: Stephen Ministers provide care to individuals facing difficult times in life--grief, cancer, divorce, financial difficulties, hospitalization, chronic illness, job loss, disability, a spiritual crisis, or other life struggles.
