In case we haven't met, my name is Micah Metts-Houston and I am leading an effort to build a new ministry to refugee families at Grace Sacramento. We are working with a ministry called World Relief to become a Good Neighbor Team for a new refugee family arriving in Sacramento soon.
If you would like to get more of a taste of what this ministry is all about consider attending one of their regular Story Telling nights to hear from refugees themselves about their experiences coming to the US through the help of World Relief.
The next event is this Friday, March 8 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at Bayside Church (Granite Bay Campus, Studio 440, 8191 Sierra College Blvd, Roseville, CA 95661), and tickets are $10. Click HERE for the invite.
I don't want to downplay the commitment that it will require. If you would like to learn more about World Relief, the commitment involved, and the families who have totally uprooted their own lives fleeing conflict and persecution, landing in a foreign country without friend or family networks, then click HERE. These families will have needs, and more so earlier on in the resettlement process. However, we have the opportunity to be their first impression of this country, of Americans, and even of Christians. If we have enough people on our team, we will be able to make the time commitment very manageable, especially if we are willing to dedicate time from our Grace Group to socializing with a family once a month. Please consider and pray about this and we will talk more about it in the upcoming weeks.
If you would like to be added to the "I'm interested list" please reply to me at this address: firstname.lastname@example.org and I will make sure to follow-up with what our next steps are.
All the best,
