Good Friday Tenebrae Service, March 29th @ 6p
Join us for our Tenebrae service as we remember and re-enact the Friday of the last week of the life of Christ. The word "tenebrae" comes from the Latin meaning "darkness" or “shadows.” The Tenebrae is an ancient Christian Good Friday service that makes use of gradually diminishing light to symbolize the events of Jesus’ last night before His death: from His prayers in Gethsemane to His arrest, crucifixion and burial.

We will be reading parts of the story from the gospels, singing songs of reflection and gradually extinguishing candles. This increasing darkness symbolizes the approaching darkness of Jesus' crucifixion and the hopelessness of a world without God. The service concludes in darkness, when the Christ candle is extinguished symbolizing the death of Jesus.

We meet in the fellowship hall at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church.
