The Day Finally Arrived [11/18/18]

Daniel Installation

To the Brothers and Sisters of Grace Sacramento,

It is with great joy and anticipation that I am writing to make you aware of several important and special events that we are planning to celebrate together in the next several weeks at Grace Sacramento.

On Sunday November 18th, during our regular worship service, we will be welcoming as many as 20 new members and officially calling Daniel Yoon as Co-Pastor of Grace Sacramento Presbyterian Church.

This event essentially marks the realization of our dream that God would take two churches and bring them together as one body through the reconciling power of the gospel. It will be an opportunity for us to celebrate all that God has done in our midst as we have submitted our dreams and plans to him and to one another.

This special service will feature Richard Hong, pastor at New Life Church in Freemont, as a guest preacher, special guests from other sister churches and a Thanksgiving celebration meal following the service. Please plan to attend and click the following link to find out how you can contribute to our celebration meal. (HERE)

On Sunday December 9th we will take time during our service to install two new officers to our Diaconate. This is the group of men and women who plan and facilitate ministries of mercy, care and stewardship for Grace Sacramento. Cathy Whang and Charlene Shon will be commissioned by our elders as our newest deaconesses after a year of advising and training alongside our current diaconate. Please plan to join us to celebrate them and the work God is calling them to. If you have financial need or another situation that might require material care you can contact our diaconate (HERE).

I also want to give you an update on other leaders who are preparing to serve at Grace. On Sunday July 1st we asked you, the congregation of Grace Sacramento, to nominate candidates who fit the description and character of elders described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Your nominations included the following names: Charles Whang, Steven Wagner-Davis, Gerry Balagtas, Tyler Munzing, David Kruckenberg, Chris Odneal, Jeff Clay and Mark Lee. Please join me in celebrating the many godly men we have in our midst.

Of those men several have decided that this is an appropriate season in life and family to pursue elder training. Jeff Clay, Chris Odneal and Mark Lee are all in some stage of training and may be asked to consider serving us as elders in the early months of 2019. Please be in prayer for them as they engage the training and weigh the possibility of serving in this way.

Pray also for Grace Sacramento as Mike Boyd prepares to rotate off of active duty as an elder. Mike has served faithfully as our clerk, our treasurer and our bookkeeper over the past five years.

My friends, we have so much to give thanks for. Let's take appropriate time to praise God, even as we look forward and seek all that God is calling us to in sharing the good news of the gospel in Tahoe Park, Sacramento and the entire world.
